The Big Trees

This is one of those legendary classic film you won't forget soon. How could you when none other than film legend Kirk Douglas is
portraying one of the lead characters?
Set around the turn of the 20th century, the plot of this film
involves a timber baron named Jim Fallon, portrayed by Douglas. Fallon has made
plans to use a new law that has been just passed to his own advantage in order
to make a literal fortune off the famous redwoods in California. He has his eyes
set on some land that has been homesteaded by a colony of Quakers. Needless to
say, the Quakers are none too happy about this because removing the trees would
seriously interfere with their worship services, which are held outdoors. They
attempt to try to resolve the matter peacefully by persuading him not to take
down the giant trees.
Unfortunately for Fallon he has his other problems in addition to his tiff with
the Quakers over the redwoods. In order to come out ahead he forms an alliance
he might would never have thought of making otherwise. Meanwhile he also finds
himself falling in love with none other than one of the Quakers he finds himself
battling with, the lovely Alicia Chadwick; portrayed by Eve Miller. Guys might
be interested to note that Miller apparently appeared as a Playmate of the Month
not long after this film was released.
Everyone will find something to love in this action type western; picturesque
scenes of the beautiful California outdoors as well as a charming love story
that will stay with you long after the final credits roll off the screen. Don't
be mislead; however, there are also plenty of action shots to go around,
revealing just how great Kirk Douglas can be as an action hero.
