Trained to Kill: USA

Set in a rural town during the 1970s, this film revolves around a special forces
Vietnam Van who has returned home following an honorable discharge from the
military.
Sandor is welcomed home as a hero but the town is experiencing some problems from carnival ruffians who have camped nearby, just out side of town. Although he is somewhat reluctant to it, wanting only to return to a normal way of life following everything he has seen and done during the war, Sandor calls on some of his Green Beret friends to help out the town as they experience yet more problems with the carnies.
The character of Sandor is solidly portrayed with dimension and empathy. In addition to excellent characterization, the action scenes are also handled quite
well; which doesn’t usually occur with films that were originally created on a low-budget. The various fights and brawls that led up to the final fight scene in the end of the film are handled with precision, creating an overall excellent effect.
Set in the Southwest, the film also makes good use of on-site desert locations;
featuring excellent cinematography. While the storyline is quite familiar from
the era, the film combines good acting along with a different kind of twist that
really works to set the film apart from many of the films that were produced
during this time period.
